Neural oscillatory basis of functional connectivity MRI differences between semantic word tasks

چکیده
versus-concrete word processing [5] found left temporal and operc/tri frontal activity greater for abstract-words and left fusiform, parietal/occipital junction and mid-occipital for concrete-words; this is consistent with the findings here: in theta (SupPar with InfTemp) and in beta-gamma (left orbital frontal with left operc/tri frontal and mid-occipital). Other areas were also found to be different between conditions that were not found in the meta-analysis above; however, this is exciting as the meta-analysis only focussed on unimodal fMRI task-changes, not connectivity changes, nor haemodynamic changes in relation to neural oscillations. This study not only illustrates how multi-imaging-modality whole-brain functional connectivity changes can be used to understand semantic word processing from a spatial-spectral view, but also demonstrates the importance and ability of multimodal fMRI/MEG studies for connectivity. Developing a Semantic Similarity Judgment Test for Persian Action Verbs and Non-action Nouns in Patients With Brain Injury and Determining its Content Validity
Objective: Brain trauma evidences suggest that the two grammatical categories of noun and verb are processed in different regions of the brain due to differences in the complexity of grammatical and semantic information processing. Studies have shown that the verbs belonging to different semantic categories lead to neural activity in different areas of the brain, and action verb processing is r...
متن کاملLinked Sex Differences in Cognition and Functional Connectivity in Youth.
Sex differences in human cognition are marked, but little is known regarding their neural origins. Here, in a sample of 674 human participants ages 9-22, we demonstrate that sex differences in cognitive profiles are related to multivariate patterns of resting-state functional connectivity MRI (rsfc-MRI). Males outperformed females on motor and spatial cognitive tasks; females were faster in tas...
متن کاملAging and brain activation with working memory tasks: an fMRI study of connectivity.
BACKGROUND White matter changes in aging and neuropsychiatric disorders may produce disconnection of neural circuits. Temporal correlations in regional blood oxygen level dependent (BOLD) signals may be used to assess effective functional connectivity in specific circuits, such as prefrontal cortex (PFC) circuits supporting working memory (WM) tasks. We hypothesized healthy older subjects would...
متن کاملA Joint Semantic Vector Representation Model for Text Clustering and Classification
Text clustering and classification are two main tasks of text mining. Feature selection plays the key role in the quality of the clustering and classification results. Although word-based features such as term frequency-inverse document frequency (TF-IDF) vectors have been widely used in different applications, their shortcoming in capturing semantic concepts of text motivated researches to use...
متن کاملTriangulation of the neurocomputational architecture underpinning reading aloud.
The goal of cognitive neuroscience is to integrate cognitive models with knowledge about underlying neural machinery. This significant challenge was explored in relation to word reading, where sophisticated computational-cognitive models exist but have made limited contact with neural data. Using distortion-corrected functional MRI and dynamic causal modeling, we investigated the interactions b...
